... The sculpture unfolds across the ceiling, in and around the structural trusses, from the library entry through the entry hallway to an elaborated sculptural cascade at the axis of an East/West hall, still in line of sight of the entry. The installation will also include a dimensional wall bird collage, Birds in Flight, for the children’s area, thereby bringing the natural elements of the outdoor environment - the neighborhood’s abundant bird life- inside. The primary bird images bounce surrounding light shadows from hidden LED lighting. The East Carnegie Calligraphy forms are of local birds taken from "The Great Backyard Bird Count" of San Jose, an annual national project to track local species and leaves of native trees of East Santa Clara street. Other images are of building facades and the Carnegie Library itself.
