The Anatomy Lesson: Dimensional Drawings

“Dimensional Drawings” are digital prints made from original drawings in mylar or other papers, mounted on gatorboard or sintra (a stable lightweight support). The images are usually in the original size, while sometimes in enlarged or smaller scale. They are collaged in two to five layers and affixed together, to make visible, the extraordinary imagery and connective links of  the internal world of the physical self.

Our consciousness of objects in the world changes when its parts are disrupted, fragmented and multiplied. The artist, as translator, casts the familiar as new again. “Dimensional Drawings” have been assembled in thematic series. A recent series, titled Limbs and Trunks, draws visual and conceptual relationships of body parts to other elements of the natural world.
